Since 2022, we have packed up our pups and gone off the grid to a cabin in the woods. Each cabin we’ve stayed in has been a little slice of heaven. We love the seclusion but also opt for modern amenities. Hot tub, open concept, electricity, grill, corn hole, etc.
We love Hocking Hills because of its diverse offerings. They are endless! Amongst the lush greenery and mossy trails that mimic a storybook, you can tent camp, stay in a log cabin be it rustic, luxurious and in between, multifamily lodges, chalets.
There’s horseback riding, kayaking, hiking, shopping, dining. Our favorite place to hike is Old Man’s Cave. One of the driving points of our stay is the distance from our cabin to Old Man’s Cave. Each time has been no more than 30 minutes.
Our third and upcoming trip happens to fall on the day of the solar eclipse, April 8th, 2024. It’s also the day after my birthday. We didn’t plan it that way! We hear places are going to be crowded, including roadways so keeping fingers crossed we don’t run into issues!
Thank you for reading and I can’t wait to share the details of our trip!
This is Devil’s Bathtub in Hocking Hills’ Old Man’s Cave. It’s a unique sight to see along your hike. I should note this particular trail is a one-way hike. There are signs that point you onward but it’s not possible to backtrack once you start. Each trail is approximately one mile each, a total of 3 if I’m not mistaken.
This is an example of the mossy covered cliff in Old Man’s Cave. Absolutely beautiful!
