Welcome Nala, our new puppy!

Hello, friends! It’s been forever since we last updated our blog. We lost our boy Miniature Pinscher on Father’s Day of 2025. To lose a pet, a member of the family as we see it, is one of if not the hardest experience we’ve endured together. Since 2022 we lost all three of our dogs we had when we first met 8 years ago. We now have Layla and the newest, Nala. Both of our girls are long coat Chihuahuas and are the sweetest girls! They are shining bright lights in our recent history of loss.

While choosing a breeder isn’t everyone’s choice, that’s the route we felt most comfortable with. We discussed and came to the conclusion we wanted to raise a puppy and maximize our time as much as possible. When I was a teen, my parents bred Yorkies for a short time. The whole experience was positive and I will treasure those memories. We kept a pup from each litter. The bond was unique being they were literally home grown.

Our breeder, Michelle, is wonderful and we trust her completely. If you go the breeder route, researching is crucial. A responsible and reliable breeder will always be willing to meet with you or very least do a phone call. They should be willing to answer all of your questions, and want to get to know you a bit. Michelle had us do an online interview and submit a request. I loved that because it showed she cared about not only where her pups were going, but it weeds out those who aren’t serious.

She is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced. I have a couple of clients who have since worked with Michelle and brought home beautiful, healthy and happy puppies.

Nala is intelligent, cuddly, spicy and loves to explore, like her sister. Yes, the icing on our blissful cake is they are actually sisters! Nala was the best thing to happen to our little family since losing our boy. She helped Layla with her grieving and transition into lots of playtime and companionship.

She has also helped us along in our grief journey. Starting all over is challenging, but totally worth it. I love seeing the two of them play every day, sleep and cuddle together or in close proximity. We have already done one trip with her to Hocking Hills and they both did great.

I will continue to add updates and photos! Feel free to leave comments down below of your pet experiences! I’d love to build a community where pet parents can share anything related to your furry or feathery friends.

Until next time! Au revoir!
